The piece is actually called "The Newborn", by Constantin Brancusi. What I particularly like is that he used the egg for both form/shape and symbolism.
from joe i am facinated by curving organic shapes, i don't know if you have seen the movie Alien I with Sigourny Weaver, when the crewmen first went into the crashed alien spacecraft and were infected by the pod, that spacecraft had the weirdest flowing organic shapes in the interior. I really think a lot of those hollywood set designers because they were so different from the square, sharp shapes that were standard in the past.
